Hello all! It’s a new year and you know what that means — new year resolutions! Everyone is getting fit, eating healthier, making better life choices, and trying to kick off 2017 the best they can. With the theme of resolutions, one great way to make a positive change in your life is to help someone else. Volunteering is an amazing way to give back to your community and be a positive influence to others around you. And there are an incredible amount of opportunities around you to volunteer for causes you care about, even if you don’t realize it. You could be helping great organizations just by attending events and donating your time to a worthy cause.
One of my favorite fashion shows each year in Raleigh is Couture for a Cause. The show is put on each year by a nonprofit organization called Activate Good. Activate Good connects people around the Raleigh-Durham area to local charities and volunteer opportunities with other nonprofits. They work with over 300 nonprofit organizations, where volunteers can work with children, local camps, refugees, victims of abuse, environmental organizations, and so many more great causes.
Couture for a Cause is Activate Good’s annual fundraising fashion show that attracts more than 500 guests. All the money raised at the show goes towards Activate Good. For the show, Activate Good pairs designers with one of their nonprofit organizations and designers create looks that showcase that organization’s mission. I had the pleasure of attending this past year’s show in November and wanted to share some of my favorite designs and pictures!
If you’re in the Raleigh-Durham area, go take a look at Activate Good’s website and explore all the fantastic volunteer opportunities you have with some incredible nonprofits. And if you aren’t in the area, check out some organizations near you that work on projects you’re passionate about. It’s never too early or too late to start changing the world and making an impact in your community.
